| Our first lab, Heidi, is
one of a kind. Bred on Maryland's eastern shore from waterfowl
hunting lines, she is an excellent hunter. There is nothing she
enjoys more than a day out chasing pheasants or retrieving ducks. Her
father was used by a guide for goose hunting. She earned her Working
Certificate the first time out at the age of 8. She is a pleasure to hunt with, holding
point on the bird until signaled to flush and never fails to locate downed
birds. Many people who have seen her at home, at work with my
husband, snoozing in the truck or trying to mooch a bite of whatever you
are eating, have been amazed at her change when she gets out in the
field. She means business. No fooling around, no petting, no
stopping for snacks or taking a rest. Her life has one meaning- hunt
until you drop.

Since she
was a pup, she has loved to go out on the Chesapeake Bay in our C-Hawk
Boat, thus her name and our kennel name. We have taken her all over Maryland,
Pennsylvania and parts of Virginia- boating and camping, even to our
wedding reception.

Heidi is a big girl, weighing
in at over 90 pounds, often mistaken for a male. Unfortunately, attempts to breed her
failed.
